Getting Started at LBIC

At LBIC, we provide researchers with access to state-of-the-art imaging technologies and expert support for basic and clinical research. Our staff scientists assist throughout the entire imaging workflow, from project planning and experimental design to sample preparation, image acquisition, data management, analysis and visualization.

We also offer training, workshops and seminars to help researchers develop their imaging skills and make the most of our technologies.

| Microscopy

The Microscopy platform offers a wide range of techniques for imaging of samples on a variety of resolution ranges, including the nanometer range obtained by electron microscopy and the micrometer range obtained by different types of light microscopy.

| Preclinical In Vivo Imaging

The Preclinical In Vivo Imaging platform provides access to advanced multimodal imaging technologies, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) and X-ray Computed Tomography (CT). Together, these complementary techniques enable high-resolution anatomical, functional and molecular imaging of small animals and ex vivo tissues.

Supported by experienced staff, the platform offers expertise in a wide range of imaging applications, from study planning and image acquisition to advanced data analysis, helping researchers investigate biological processes and disease mechanisms in preclinical models.

| National 7 Tesla Facility

The National 7 Tesla Facility for ultra-high-field human magnetic resonance imaging research can offer equipment for brain, knee, wrist, breast and abdominal imaging, fMRI stimuli and eye tracking as well as clinical devices, such as contrast injector and ventilator. The facility is open for researchers from all Swedish universities.

| Clinical MRI 

The Clinical 1.5/3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging platform comprises a variety of tools ranging from high-resolution anatomical structure visualization to functional studies and even molecular-level description of metabolic events in the cell.

LBIC also provides support with Analysis & Visualization, assisting users in the effective use of image analysis software, quantitative image processing, and data interpretation. This includes guidance on image analysis workflows, as well as the generation of 3D surface models, visualizations and animations.
