The National 7 Tesla Facility

The 7 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging system is a valuable tool for research in various fields and with which new radiological and medical questions can be answered. It allows, for example neuroscientists to study functions of the human brain with unprecedented sensitivity. Moreover, it is ideally suited for translational research, bridging the gap between the preclinical- and standard clinical MR technologies.

Our mission is to be a well-functioning facility for advanced MRI research and create a vibrant environment for physicists, clinicians, mathematicians, behavioral scientists, radiographers in all stages of their careers

This includes to:

  • Strive for a mix of projects and users from different research fields
  • Strive for active commitment and project grants from all participating universities
  • Initiate and support both national and international collaborations
  • Support clinical research as well as translational research projects also involving other LBIC-equipment

Services

The 7 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging system is owned by Lund university through LBIC and operates within the Centre for Imaging and Function at Skåne University Hospital in Lund. The facility is open to researchers from all Swedish universities. Dedicated and experienced staff can offer support in project setup, scanning and development. Users can get training in using the system independently, including safety procedures, subject handling, and running the MR-scanner.

Equipment and Methods

The facility can offer equipment for brain, knee, wrist, breast and abdominal imaging, fMRI stimuli and eye tracking as well as clinical devices, such as contrast injector and ventilator.
